Academy for Literary Translation

For the Amsterdam and Antwerp based Academy for Literary Translation, we created a website where multiple pages are organized in a vertical accordion structure. The tabs of the accordion pages are intentionally set slightly askew, like the spines of books lined up in a row.

All pages are loaded at once when the website is opened so the accordion can work smoothly. When opening the accordion pages, we adjust the browser address bar so it points to the underlying WordPress page each time. This way, browser navigation, such as back and forward browsing, continues to work.

We also created a custom quote block for the Gutenberg block editor. In this block, the position, color, and shape of two initials can be set to project behind the quotation. The initials can be added as SVGs or taken from the font used on the website.
